Team Prime Time exists because the most dangerous hours of a child’s day are the ones after the last bell. We opened in 2001 with 21 students at Webster Middle School and have served thousands since, building a curriculum uniquely tailored to each community. We began with middle school students because they are statistically the most at risk and, at the time, almost nothing existed designed for their needs and interests. We now operate in 14 LAUSD schools, seven elementary and seven middle, giving us up to ten years with the same student. Consistency is the intervention.
Academics
TPT’s academic component, designed to help students perform at or beyond grade level, ranges from daily homework support to the creation of Individualized Tutoring Plans for those who need additional support. We make that work more meaningful through our Next “U” partnerships, which connect classroom performance to real careers, including the Prime Time Trials with Loyola Law School and Prime Time Finance with USC Marshall School of Business.
Athletics
Athletics is where self-esteem, teamwork, and academic accountability get practiced instead of taught.
The WSA / Prime Time Cup
Built with Westcoast Sports Associates, the Cup runs intramural leagues at every TPT site, culminating in all-site interscholastic tournaments.
Alternative Sports Program
Tennis, golf, track and field, and off-season play for students outside the seasonal schedule.
Health and Fitness
Participation-based and non-competitive, built on the premise that a student does not need to play in high school to live like an athlete.
Art and STEM Academy
The Art and STEM Academies are home to students who do not come just for the sports, and they meet those students on their terms.
Visual Arts
Creativity, cognitive and sensory development, and an outlet for self-expression.
Performing Arts
Reading, writing, acting, and music, culminating in live performance. Literacy comes to life on stage.
Media Arts
Where art meets STEM: graphic design, photography, videography, filmmaking, editing, lighting, and DJ and recording arts.
STEM Academy
Born out of Media Arts. Robotics, computer programming, and game design, aimed squarely at the 21st-century workforce.
Leadership
We put our students in positions where their actions improve the lives of others.
The Prime Time Games®
Our full-inclusion sports program, where TPT students serve as coaches and mentors to children with developmental disabilities. This is the program that earned our students their reputation in this community.
Community Leaders Program
Guest speakers from the local sports, arts, and business communities, brought in not to inspire but to be specific about how they got there, and how our kids can too.
